These are being captured with the current survey, but here are the key ideas that have surfaced:
Keep the current school structure and build onto the current buildings to accommodate the future growth - No bus program needed
- Budgets to be compiled by the BOE and reviewed with the community
- Expected Benefits:
- Full Day Kindergarten
- Additional Space for Arts & Music
- Additional Space for Special Services
- Enhanced CTE Academy
- Science Lab Improvements
- Technology Investment
- Themed learning
- Investment in Arts & Music
- Balanced curriculum across all schools
Convert Lincoln School to 100% CAP and relocate the Administration to another building or facility (Does not need to be tied to a school)
HISTORY OF C.A.P.
The Cranford Achievement Program was established in September 1982 by the Cranford Board of Education to provide a more appropriate setting for classified high school students who were experiencing difficulty adjusting to the traditional school environment. Students from Cranford as well as students from other districts, who were referred by their Child Study Teams, were considered for admittance. During the past two decades that C.A.P. has been open, enrollment has increased from just a few students to almost eighty. The C.A.P. program has been expanded several times to meet the constant challenge of providing an appropriate educational setting for those students who can benefit from a non-traditional, individualized, structured approach to their education.
- The revenue per child in the CAP program generates ~$60K/per year - ($4.8MM per year - minus in-district students)
- There are about ~80 students being accommodated at the Lincoln School
- Build a strategy to capitalize on the extraordinary performance of the CAP program and acquire more students from neighboring schools and use these proceeds to fund some of the expansion or benefits presented in the reimagination plan that are not related to the restructuring
- Revenue Models and Costs would need to be reviewed with the public to see if this is a viable option
Build or lease another building to accommodate future growth
- Identify what is the target growth in the school population
- Build a strategy to accommodate the future students based on research
- Birchwood Apartments
- Concessions to the school
- 750 Walnut
- Concessions to the school
